I'm a founding member of the Peacebuilding Data project and currently working as a senior researcher with the KoBo Project at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative. Prior to that I have been working for the United Nations Development Programme for more than two years, most recently as part of the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration of former rebels in the Central African Republic, where I helped establish the country's only English-language information portal, hdptcar.net. I have worked in various research and development assistance positions in South Africa, Ecuador, Liberia, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, always with a focus on harnessing online, mobile and mass media for the benefit of vulnerable populations in these countries. I hold a BA from International University Bremen (now Jacobs University) and an MA in Media Studies from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
